I say that without actually counting all the complaints that I came across, and there were A LOT. It appears, A LOT of people have been complaining about this problem for ~2 years. It appears, Adobe has no answer that I can find after looking for more that 5 hours over the past 2 days. I have Adobe Acrobat XI standard installed.īTW, I can see the file in the preview mode. When viewing files in explorer and using thumbnails, for examples extra large icons, only the PDF logo appears and not the actual thumbnail of the file. The only slight bummer is that it didn't magically create thumbnails for all the pdf files on my system, just the ones in that folder. That generated the thumbnails for me in the Open window AND the thumbnails were also visible when I went to the same folder in Windows Explorer.

chose File Open, point it to any folder containing PDFs, choose Views/Large Icons. No guarantees this will work for everyone, but it doesn't hurt to try. I could not tell from reading it if I am subsequently restricted to using the 32 bit version of Windows Explorer or if there is a toggle between the 64 bit version, or what, if anything, I'm giving up (?)
